EDUCATION:

1989: M.A. Educational Theatre, Adelphi University (perfect GPA).

1979: B.F.A. Acting, Theatre, Fine Arts, N.Y.U. Tisch School of the Arts--(This degree is equivalent to the M.F.A., please inquire).

Theatre Scholarship:  1974-6: Undergraduate Study, Dowling Collage, Theatre Scholarship. Winner, American College Theatre Festival Semi-Finals 1976.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

1986-1999: Senior Adjunct Professor of Drama, Dowling College.

Courses Taught: Acting 1 and 2, Improvisation, Play Production, Introduction to Theatre, Oral I Interpretation, Oral Interpretation of Dramatic Literature, Arts and Ideas 1 and 2, Creative Dramatics in the Classroom.

1988-2000: Artist-in-Residence, Dowling College. Responsibilities: Producing, Directing college and professional projects on campus and in NYC.

1988: Instructor of Dramatic Arts, Dowling College (temporary full time position).

1988: Success Day Training Program: Conducted Theatre Therapy workshops for their clients.

1984-92: Founder/Program Director/Instructor, The Actors' Workshop of LI (acting school /Theatre co.)

1981-84: Founder/Director/Instructor, Arena Players Rep. Professional Theatre Training Program.

ADMINISTRATION AND COORDINATION:

1996-1999: Interview Series: Founder,/Director/Moderator: Well-known artists are interviewed on various academic and artistic subjects. Notable guests: Cliff Robertson, Budd Schulberg, David Newman, Murray Schisgal, Gary Kott and others.

1995-2000: Professional New Play Reading Series: Founder/Director. Guest Playwrights: Joe Pintauro, Gary Kott and others.

1986-2000: The Dowling College Dramatic Arts Department. Performance coordinator and producer.

1984-92: The Actors' Workshop of LI.

1982-84: A.C.T. (Arena Classical Theatre) an educational theatre touring company.

1982-84: Arena Players Repertory Theatre Professional Theatre Training Program.

PROFESSIONAL WORK:

1994-present: Two solo performances received critical acclaim for both writing and acting and the videos of my stage performances are sold throughout the world by Drama Classics Video (see below *). Performed in over 50 productions, most leading roles Off and Off-Off Broadway, Regional Theatre on tours and appeared on Saturday Night Live, directed over 30 Productions, written 15 plays, 9 produced with 4 in New York City, numerous professional readings and staged readings in New York City, and have written 6 screenplays to date. Produced a full-length feature LIES IN LOVE and also performed a leading role in 1999.

1992: - THE DIARY OF A MADMAN (adapted for the stage from the Gogol classic and performed by John Monteleone, video sold throughout U.S.A. and Canada by Drama Classics Video).

1993: - PERFECTLY NORM-ILL PEOPLE (solo written and performed by John Monteleone with Denise Welborn, video was sold throughout U.S.A.and Canada by Drama Classics Video).

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS: Actors' Equity, The Dramatists Guild.
